Do silicone cases provide adequate protection for iPad 2?

Adequate protection = drop protection from 1 or 2 feet; Protect the iPad against bumps and prevent it from denting.

Also, do silicone cases absorb shock better than polycarbonate cases? Coz my Switcheasy canvas has splintered off T the corners and I don't feel like buying another especially since I got my canvas for free due to an error from Switcheasy (I cancelled my order, they refunded me, and their warehouse still shipped the case!)

I have a tpu on the back of my iPad 2 and works wonderfully, I'm not sure about drop protection but I have bumped the sides occasionally on accident and saved me from dings :D
