I've just realized that when I shut down my ibook and close the case, it doesn't shut down - it goes to sleep instead. It doesn't shut down until I come back hours later and open it, intending to turn it on. Then it shuts down immediately! So, am I missing something . . . or do I really have to wait until it's completely shut down before I close the case?

You just have to wait, unfortunately. Just make sure it's completely shut down before you close the case.

I never really run into this problem though because I never really shut my MBP down...I just put it to sleep.

There is no need to shut your computer down unless you'll be storing it for a while. It goes to sleep because that's usually the best thing to do.

Thanks for replying!

I guess I'll have to be more patient in the future - if I really want it to shut down. Otherwise, I'll just let it nap . . .
