Silverlight won't install on my mac

After i download the file and double click on the package nothing happens. The installer doesn't come up. Can anyone help me?

I have tried multiple times. Same thing happens when I try to install Flip4Mac

I see below that you also have this problem when you've downloaded Flip4Mac. It sounds like you've got a reason to visit a Genius at the Apple Store.
