sim card ejection tool?

When you sell you 3G S you need to eject the sim card and keep it as it contains your subscriber info - it is YOUR card.
The SIM card ejection tool is otherwise known as a paperclip. The 3G came with a "SIM card ejection tool" as well.

Yeah you'll find a lot of that here. People forget that not everyone lives, eats, breathes and deuces Apple. Just ignore the rude, sarcastic characters. They're not worth responding to.

Since you will, someday, need to remove/exchange/switch/get a new sim, you're gonna need to be able to eject the existing sim card. So, that's why it's there
No. The 3GS should come with one in it already. The one you have from your 3G is worthless basically.

Exactly, I had a friend who worked at an Apple Store and got me a few extra because they were selling on eBay after the launch for between $15-$20 a bag. I'm also talking about the original iPhone bag, the nice one that was black (or white I think). There's always a sucker right?
Unfortunately, you'll run into a lot of snobby nerds in a tech forum. Kinda goes with the territory I suppose.
Just ignore the jerks, there will usually be plenty of very helpful folks as well.
