I live in the UK and am off to New York next week for 10 days. I am staying with family so will have access to Wifi.

However, when out and about I would like a small internet allowance allowing me to check in places on Facebook.

What's the cheapest way to do this? My iPhone 5 is unlocked by the way.

$30, T-Mobile. 100 minutes, unlimited text and 5GB of 4G data.

New York also has LTE is some locations.

Can't seem to select a nano-sim? Would I just get it shipped to my family members house? And I can cancel after the 1 month?

Walmart might sell the nano sims or in T-Mobile stores. You can definitely get one off of eBay. Yep, you can cancel after one month.
