Hi all,

I've got a iPhone 5S on verizon, unlocked. Will be in Europe, specifically the Netherlands and Austria for a few weeks in December, and will be looking to get a local sim in each place. Interested in data, don't care about voice. Will need for navigation and Skype/facetime. I have two questions.

First, once i get the sim card, how will the phone get activated on that network? Do i need to plug the phone into a computer with iTunes and a wireless connection? Meaning, if i don't have my laptop/itunes with me, it won't work? Or is there some other way?

Also, any suggestions on data providers in either of those places?

Many thanks.

Since your iPhone is unlocked just buy a sim card from any provider you choose from and pop it into the iPhone 5S. Usually it will start searching for service and within a few minutes it should say w/e carrier your using in your iPhone 5S.

If it doesn't connect just restore your iPhone with iTunes with the SIM card in the iPhone 5S.

So It's simple! Just pop in any local sim to your iPhone 5S and bam you're done!
