I am about to order two Ipad 3G for me and wife....
if i sign up AT&t service on one Ipad only ..would i be able to swap the Sim card and use at&t 3G on the other ipad just in case if i need to ?

possible to cancel 3G AT&T plan before 30 days?

it is possible to sign up for 30 day plan and cancel before 30 days , would they pro-rate the charges ?

Yes you can move sim to other ipad and use it, you cannot cancel before 30 days. It's a 30 day subscription, no early canceling

What you are canceling is the auto-renew. You are 'pre-paying' for 250MB or a month of unlimited. So, you can sign up for a month where you know you want to use it (on vacation, say), cancel it immediately so you aren't renewed automatically, and you have it for the month (for unlimited) or have the 250, if that's enough. If you run out of the 250, you need to purchase another 250 or a (full) month of unlimited.

My interpretation of the AT&T guidelines we've seen in several places.

thanks ! so that really means ... that sim card can be used in any 3G phone as well ... that's great!

No, most 3G phones use mini SIM not micro SIM. The iPad is the first device to use micro SIMs that we know of.

ohh i see .. i didnt know that .. i am some one who has been with Verizon since ever so no experince with SIM cards ...

hummmm so that means ..... if i am talking my IPAD to any other country i might not be able to use the 3G locally there as they might not have a MICRO SIM cards available there?

Correct, I know for a fact Canada will via Rogers Microsims coming late May. I'm sure other countries will have them/start getting them

There are only 10 carriers worldwide so far that's using MicroSIM...

No.... Verizon is CDMA and it's not compatible with GSM standard.

However, if you can 'tether" your Verizon phone to your iPad, you can leech the data connection that way...

ok thats making your phone into a hot spot then
