Hey guys quick question, I went to the Apple store because my iPhone needed replacing. It was approved for the exchange under my warranty but because I had my friends sim card tray in my phone they would not allow the exchange. My sim card tray was loose, and my friends iphone broke so he gave me his. I just ordered a generic sim card tray from eforcity and i'm wondering if I am able to exchange my iPhone now? If I dont have the original sim card tray does that void my warranty? Thanks in advance

Put the new SIM tray in the iPhone and either call or go back in to the Apple Store. I'm sure people lose SIM trays all the time, they should replace it.

The SIM trays usually have the serial and imei numbers on them. The generic one i bought is blank. The Apple store already popped open my iphone and checked the serial number on the inside and everything matches. Doesn't make any sense if they don't let me exchange my defective iphone..

its just the idiot you get......I mean Genius. I have sent them in to apple through UPS before with wrong sims and never had a problem.

So should I ask to speak with the manager if they still don't go through with my exchange? It makes no sense to deny the exchange because of that small piece don't you think?
