sim city 4 stopped working

i had it for a day and it worked perfectly. i kept it in a folder with the data and it was fine. now after a day its asking me to enter the cd. how do i fix this?

Put in the CD/DVD. It is required to play, or you have to make an image of the disc. SC4 questions would be best directed to http://www.simtropolis.com or http://www.simcity4devotion.com

These sites also have many upgrades for the game that make is much more enjoyable.

i lost the disc. how would i go about making an image of it?

You would need access to the disc, then create an image via Disk Utility.
