Hi, I know the Mac version of sim city has been delayed until August, but I was jusy wondering does the PC version work?

The EA website is very misleading as when you click the 'Mac' section it says top games and the top one is Sim City. When you click it, it says download now.

To be fair in also says at the very top in small writing, available soon but it is still giving me the option to download it. It says compatible with PC / Mac.

So will it work on my Mac? Very poor and misleading as usual by EA.

It won't run on Mac until they release a Mac client. That said, if you buy it now when it's released on Mac both versions will be included (many games that I purchased with Origin on PC have been released for Mac, similar to SteamPlay).

I understand it that the download will be available for Mac if you bought the PC version. I bought the PC version on Origin about two days after I could've gotten free games for all the delays, and I don't think I qualify for the free launch park crap either. SMH.

I've been playing it a bit on my $250 Windows notebook. It's an OK experience, but you guessed right that a $250 Windows notebook does not leave much room above the minimum specs. Meanwhile, my Mac is sitting here with an i3 and 12GB of RAM plus the 1920x1080 21" display meant for a game way more than any system with a Celeron processor. Yes, a Celeron.

It's August. Hurry up, EA.

I'm in the same situation. My Windows notebook is also using a Celeron processor, and with the abysmal loading times etc, I'm just waiting until it's released for the Mac.

Surely they must have a specific release date by now?

No release date has been announced beyond saying "August". That's just how it is with EA. With all of the delays and broken promises, I have a feeling they're not going to tell us any more until it is actually released.

Stay tuned for a press release saying "It's here" sometime this month.

Pretty much. Last release date they canceled days before and moved it months away.

I saw nothing other than "August."

Does your notebook about burn up whatever surface it's on when running the game? Mine could probably melt lead. When people want to know the difference between the $250 computer and the $1,000 computer, I explain the little things like that to them. I rarely remember my MacBook Pro ever putting out that much heat.

I know, you'd think that being in the month of the supposed release, they would have communicated an actual date by now

And I haven't actually installed SimCity 5 onto my notebook, but it pretty much burns up anything I do on it. I don't even attempt to run games on it. When playing intensive games, my iMac warms up slightly. My notebook would just be a puddle of plastic if I even attempted to run the same game on it.

I love Sim City but I'am really starting to hate E.A for the lack of information they provide to the Mac Community. With an unexpected cancel in June and no official date since than, it seems E.A's simcity is becoming vapourware. Whilst my interest in the franchise is diminishing.

Good news? Hillarious.

Good news, Travelers! Your flight has been delayed by 12 hours, but we rebooked you on a flight 11 hours from now. RT to thank us.
