My iPhone 17 Pro Max upgraded to 26.0.1 last night, and today I experienced "SIM Failure" error twice. Nope, make it 3 times (happened again just now).
Here are the details so far:
The error comes up on its own. I'm not actively using the phone or doing anything.
I bought my phone from the U.S. (that's where I'm from) but I live in Mexico.
I have two eSIMs, one from Telcel Mexico which is my main line and my data service, and one from RedPocket Mobile in the U.S. where I have my U.S. number. (It's on roaming.)
When the SIM Failure error comes up, both lines die and I have to reboot the phone to get them working again.
What I've noticed is my roaming RedPocket line usually uses Telcel as its network. After the first reboot, it showed "No Service" on that line. I had to turn off the line, and turn it back on again on the phone to get it to connect. After the second reboot, it used the AT&T network. To help narrow down the issue, I turned off this line/eSIM for now to see if it is the cause of the problem.
I've been reliably using this setup for over 6 months with my old iPhone 13 Pro. I upgraded to the iPhone 17 2 weeks ago when I was in the U.S. and also used it while up there with no issues. I've been back in Mexico for 3 days and today was the first time having this issue.
Will update more as the day goes on. It could very well be my providers causing the issues. Just posting it here for now in case someone else is having a similar issue after the update.
