Hi,

I live in Cyprus and will be heading to the UK at the end of October and will be picking up 5s.

I will get my sim converted to the new one when I get back

I am wanting to use the camera while I am in the UK so if I buy it in the Apple store and use my brothers sim from his iPhone 5 to activate it will it lock the phone to his network in the UK or will it remained unlocked so I can use my new card in Cyprus?

Thanks in advaince

If you buy it unlocked at full price (non contract) from Apple it will always be unlocked.

Do you need to activate an iPhone in order to start using it? Shouldn't an unlocked, SIM-less iPhone just act like an iPod touch?

Thanks for the reply!

Well that is what I thought, can anyone say?

You're still going to need a SIM card in the device to activate it. Even an unlocked Phone. Your brothers SIM shoulg so the trick

Following this advice will do the trick.

Just don't get it from Carphone warehouse as that is sold unlocked and then locks to the first sim inserted. Get it from Apple :)
