I have an att iPhone 7 plus and recently I get a sim invalid message about once a day. I turn the phone off and on and it fixes the problem.

Is this a phone or SIM card issue? Thanks.

I'd try a new sim first.
If it keeps doing it then get the phone replaced.

I have had defective sims in the past do that and a new one fixed the problem. I use T Mobile and they will waive the absurd $25 charge for a new SIM card if yours is defective. Not sure who you use as a carrier but I would hope if you need a new sim it will be free.

Yes, I had to get 2 Tmobile sims before to port 2 lines from AT&T to my family plan on Tmobile.
The local Tmobile store charged me for the 2 sim cards and I was pissed because Im porting lines over to them and they told me I either pay or wait for Tmobile to ship me sims via mail for free but it could take another week.
So I paid at the store and then complained to the customer service number.
They credited my next phone bill by $100. $50 for the sims and $50 for my inconvenience.
Gotta love Tmobile :)
