Hi guys
I'm really looking to get into sim racing as a hobby in the near future. I don't want to have to buy a new Windows computer just for this purpose, so I'm wondering whether I can utilise my existing MBP.
I want to play games like Assetto Corsa Competizione, iRacing, and some others, eventually using up to three monitors. Currenlty I have a mid-2018 MBP 15" with the following spec:
- i7 2.2ghz 6 core
- 16gb RAM 2400mhz
- Intel UHD 630 1536 / Radeon Pro 555x 4gb VRAM gfx
I'm hoping the processor and RAM is fast enough to run the above at a decent FPS, but the graphics is an area of concern. If I were to buy an eGPU, such as the BlackMagic eGPU with the Radeon Pro 580 8GB, do you think that would suffice as a system?
Initially, I'll only be playing on one screen but I will look to add the other two at some point. The eGPU will only cost around £500, whereas a dedicated gaming computer will likely be far more than double that, and I also don't really want the hassle.
Thoughts appreciated!
