When I was at an Apple store today, I noticed that two separate display models of the white iPhone 4 had the exact same problem: The SIM card tray was not flush with the body of the phone. The tray was all the way in, but it was at a slight angle, and the one edge of the tray (which is the edge closest to bottom of the phone, i.e., the edge closest to the the 30-pin port) was slightly sticking out of the phone's body. When I ran my finger up the metal side of the body where the SIM card tray is, the edge of the tray that was sticking out caused some friction on my finger.

Has anyone else here noticed this?

If it's bothering you that much, I would take it back and get a new one. Or at least ask them if it's a common problem between them all. It's kinda strange for three of them to all have the same problem though.

I didn't buy one, because I'm quite happy with the black Verizon iPhone 4 I bought on the day it was released. :) I decided to create this thread to give prospective white iPhone 4 customers a heads-up.

I'll be honest.. It bothers me.

By way of an update, I took this to the apple store and they gave me a replacement, no fuss. Now my sim slot is perfect. If you have the same problem, take it back.

I have on mine, but it's such a little angle that you cannot see it, only feel it. On the same spot you are describing. Nowhere near what is shown on the first photo in this thread.

i have the same issue as the phone posted above. looks exactly the same.
its on a new 4S I just bought.

i was thinking about returning it but i hate being a little baby about small issues like this, so once i have my case i'll forget about it.

But you are being a big baby by complaining about it yet not doing anything.

I would worry about it as well.

Back in 2009 when Apple came out with the 8GB 3GS when the iPhone 4 came out, I ordered a black 8GB 3GS. The sim card slot never aligned properly and I would always get the sim not detected message. I finally traded the sim tray from one of my white iPhones and it fit better and I never got the sim message again. I did sell the phone a few weeks ago with it's original sim tray.

Very nice of Apple, that's a customer service!

I love Apple and Apple fans cause I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets annoyed by these little things and it's amazing that a big company like that pays attention and replaces a product because of it.

Did they replace the phone though or the tray?
