macOS Simple Automator Question. I'm new at this.

I have been having some issues lately with an Aperture 3 plug-in screwing up some metadata and now it gets stuck processing an image. I have to hold down the shift key when I launch the program to stop the processing but that doesn't work unless I launch it from a finder window, not the dock. I much prefer launching it from the dock.
Does anyone know a way in automator or something like that where I can hit an icon in the dock and it will launch Aperture while hitting the shift key?

I tried but don'e know where to even begin with Automator.
