Hi, I currently use my (old v1) iPad as a guestlist by using pages and manually searching. it's not particularly elegant, however and it can be super slow. And the guestlist specific apps I've seen are way too expensive and have features I really don't need.

What I'd like is to be able to search a list of email addresses super quickly and easily and preferably be able to check people off super quickly and easily (though this is a bonus, not a must have).

Any thoughts?

You might take a look at List Master; it can definitely do all the things you listed (including the bonus). You can import and export via Dropbox (and others), and edit list files on your desktop (files are in .csv or .tab or something -- easily imported into excel, etc.)

You can make your own list format with multiple columns of various data types. In your case, a checkbox column, email column, name, etc. The searching seems to work pretty well -- not the greatest, but good enough, IMO. You can also just sort the columns and find things that way.

There's a Lite version that you can try out, too.

Regards,
Tom
