Simple question about AppleWorks 6 draw/paint.

I just recently switched from windows to mac. I am using AppleWorks 6 draw and paint programs and have run into a question. On paint for windows you can select an image and choose whether or not to move it onto another image as just the image itself or the image and the background color that is within the selected box. I haven't figured out how to do that on AppleWorks 6 and the help didn't really tell me anything. Can someone tell if you can do that on AW6 and if so how? Thanks.
