If i buy the phone without contract, i still have to be part of at&t right..?
So am i going to be part of their data plan ??

For the trillionth time:
all US phones (with or without contract) are locked to AT&T
you can not get out of the data plan

If you don't have $15/month to spend for the 200 MB plan, don't get the iphone.

Just a quick note that Apple no longer sells US iPhones without contracts. You'll need to buy from a physical AT&T store to get the no contract option.

Well why would they even put that option on their apple stores then?

Just purchase the device FULL PRICE and they will ask you with or without contract, you say NO. and that's it... give them your cash and you are all set.

Go home unlock/jailbreak and use it wherever the heck you want! cheers!!!:D

Until a day or two ago, Apple Stores did sell the iPhones without a contract.

They changed that policy a few days ago, according to the tech blogs.

Just go to an AT&T store.

The tech blogs initially, but my friends that work at Apple have also commented on it.
