Simple Question: How best to back up iTunes

Tomorrow I am going to be clearing out my HD and reinstalling Tiger and all my apps. I'm backing up all of my files and such on an external HD. I want to be able to bring over my iTunes library with playlists and all ,including smart playlists, so I just wanted to know which files need to be copied over to do so. Are there specific files from the Library that need to be copied over or is everything present within my iTunes folder? I'm only confused really because of the dispararte ways that iLife apps seem to hold their information for the system, with some being simple backups and others having all sorts of files.
