simple question....... or is it?

so on the macbook, there is a port next to the audio out jack, im not talking about the locking port, im talking about the port that looks just like audio, but above there is a symbol that looks like a circle with 2 triangles pointing at it in the circled |>O<| (just squish all that together). any comments are nice.
