Hi there,

I have a 24" imac which i think is a couple of years old. It is 2.8ghz intel core 2 duo with 4gb 667 MHz DDR2 Ram.

But im looking to buy a more powerfull macbook pro to replace this computer as I use Logic Pro which is very CPU intensive.

Im looking at the new 15" model.
- this one - http://www.apple.com/nz/macbookpro/specs.html

its 2.0ghz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with 6MB shared L3 cache
and 4GB (two 2GB SO-DIMMs) of 1333MHz DDR3 memory; two SO-DIMM slots support up to 8GB

im new to all this so can someone please tell me which one is more likely to be more powerful and better for my use with running logic pro?

Yes, even though the clock speed on that new MBP is lower... it blows the iMac away, due to 4 factors: quad-core as opposed to dual-core, faster RAM, faster access to and from RAM, and faster communication between the various components of the CPU.

I agree with Wrldwzrd89. The quad core really improves performance along with the RAM

thanks for your input guys!

Really glad that the macbook pro is vastly better in performance!
