Disclaimer. There is the distinct possibility that you will be charged for the extra data you use. Although this has not proven to be true yet, it can happen. Exercise caution and prudence when using these directions. I cannot be held accountable for a 1000 data bill because you tethered. Proceed at your own risk,

So I came into a situation where I needed to use internet tethering on my iPhone running 3.0. All of the solutions on the net had major drawbacks like internet and or visual voicemail being broken after applying the ipcc file to enable tethering. After analyzing the config files I was able to make a few minor mod's and get an ipcc that breaks nothing and enables tethering. I make no mention of MMS, because that was not my goal. Also on ATT, I wondered why we had to look at that carrier setting menu on the iphone when it does not good. So if you use this ipcc file, it will enable tethering while maintaining your ability to get to the internet over edge or 3g and your visual voicemail will continue to work and lastly there will just be one new menu option to enable tethering and not the carrier settings menu option which is worthless to AT&T subscribers.

Downloading:
Download with firefox or another browser that doesent autouncompress the file. Then click the file onece, hit CTRL-i and change the .zip to .ipcc. When asked if you want to change the suffix to .ipcc say yes.

To Apply:
If you are on Beta 5 you will need the previous beta itunes version. Apply the ipcc file per the directions already on the net.

Enjoy
