I've seen a question about this before but I can't seem to find it.
My sim made pancakes, they caught fire, the fireman put the fire out but now she can't get the pancakes off the stove. I tried deleting the stove so I could buy a new one but it won't let you do that. Any suggestions?

I ran into this problem long ago.
If I remember right, you can't remove the stove from the lot (including deleting it) because it's "in use". In my case, my sim (who sucked at cooking) burned the food and wouldn't remove it from the stove.
I tried everything, and ultimately went into the lot editor and moved the stove to a corner of the backyard, hidden behind a tree. I then bought a new stove and placed it in the house for my sim to use.
Not the greatest solution, but it worked well enough to continue living there temporarily until I could save up enough money to move my sim to another lot, where I built a different house that didn't have a derelict stove hidden in the yard.

Thanks!! I'll have to do that I guess. :)

for "in use" items

If you ever have an object (or even a person) that gets "stuck" or says it is "in use", press Control/Shift/c on your keyboard. A prompt will show up at the top of the screen; type Moveobjects on at the prompt. If you now click on the buy/move objects icon, it will allow you to delete or move the object or person. Just a note, if it is a person, it does not delete them permanently from the game, it just gets them moving again.
Hope this helps!
