simultaneous headphone & speaker sound?

hey i wanted to know it its possible or a program to make it so i can have headphones connected to my computer and still have audio playing out of the speakers?
when i put the headphones on it turns off the speakers in the imac...

any way around it?

Hmm..I believe if you're using a sound system that uses the 1/8" stereo mini-jack, you could buy a Y-adapter so that you could plug both the speakers and headphones in.

iMac has internal speakers.

No, there's a relay which switches between headphones and speakers (hence why the computer can control which of the two the sound goes to). Not possible...
