I have an ethernet/wifi bridge. On Windows I can connect the ethernet from the bridge to the computer ethernet port, while selecting a different wifi network in Windows and I am able to connect to both networks simultaneously.

If I attempt to do this on my Mac, a soon as I connect the ethernet cable, I lose connection to the wifi network.

If Windows can do this, why can't I do it on a Mac?

If your Mac computer has an Ethernet port, you don't need to use the Ethernet/WiFi bridge. Open System Preferences->Network and make sure the Ethernet port and WiFi are both listed. If both are not listed, click on the "+" and add whichever is missing. At the bottom right side of the Network window, click on the down arrow and select "Set Service Order...". If Ethernet is not listed first then drag it to the top of the list. Now you should be able to use the Ethernet port and select a different WiFi network, both should be active.
