im guessing this is a software fault although i guess maybe the mouse has a problem but i have had this mouse for about a year, so too long to be a dud, not long enough id think to be on the way out.
its a rapoo wireless laser mouse, so it doesnt have any separate drivers and works fine out of the box using the Mouse settings in system settings. i cant set the buttons to do anything in settings apart from i can switch the primary mouse button from left to right. i can also change the tracking speed, scrolling speed and double click speed (this doesnt help as it just changes when two clicks is seen as a double click or not, not stopping a fantom second click)
since 10.13.2 i have this annoying problem, i notice it more in safari and football manager but it does happen in the finder. randomly, probably 30% of the time i press the mouse button to click, it clicks twice. so if i have lots of tabs open in safari and i click to close one, it closes two. in football manager i click on next story and it shoots up two of them. never 3, only 2.
the mouse seems in good condition, plus the buttons are separate and i have the same issue when i switch the primary button from left to right so i think that also suggests its software based.
