If you are willing to pay a premium, lots of early preorders are reselling on eBay.

Most of the bands indicate that they will ship in May. However, some are June or unavailable.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there. Shipping in June would suggest to me that bands which are sold out on pre-orders are unlikely to be in store, as this would be profoundly unfair to pre-order shoppers.
