Ever since I updated to WatchOS 7 on my Apple Watch 5 I can no longer monitor my sleep using Autosleep. It shows big gaps in the chart for missing data every night. I checked the Health app and there are quite frequent gaps in the background heart rate monitoring sometimes missing more than an hour of recordings. This now happens every night but also daytime there are gaps. Only things I tried so far is rebooting and cleaning. Next, reinstall as new watch? :-( I truly find Autosleep being essential to me and now when the watch fails to work properly(any expected change in heart rate monitor?) I am looking for a solution. Any lead?

Many thanks for any hint!

Thanks for the response Matt! So it looks like a (by pple) known WatchOS bug and I don't rememeber getting warned about possible Health DB corruption before updating. Now I will need to wait for the next WatchOS release or try to reinstall my watch and still loosing the last days of health data. 😞

The bug is in iOS 14 and not in watchOS, so here's hoping that 14.0.1 or whatever will come quickly.

You can check your battery stats whether the Health app is top of the list there (in many cases it is) because the bug also makes it eat up quite a bit of battery.

Ok, this could explain faster drain of the Watch battery as well due to constant syncing issue for the health data. Especially for us using Watch during sleep. I hope pple hurries with 14.0.1 then.

Still no 14.0.1 and I am missing more and more health data. 14.2 beta? Brrrr

I'm having this issue too, just wrote in another post but I'll copy & paste the relevant parts.

I think it has something to do with heart rate readings not getting communicated to your phone. I read through the data sources and the watch appears to be "shutting off," for lack of a better word, every so often - in previous weeks, there were readings literally every minute and now there are multiple 30-45 minute time spans without any data. I use AutoSleep and it confirms the same thing, says "Watch was not worn" at several points throughout the night and there's no HR reading available. For example: Sunday night I slept 8 hours and 4 minutes with my watch securely on my wrist. Yet AutoSleep is showing watch not worn/no sensor readings for 5.75 of those hours. Wtf?

I recorded a 1hr workout yesterday and had consistent HR readings throughout (made sure to keep a close eye on it), but when I view the workout in Activity afterwards, it shows no HR reading for over half of the workout. It's as if your phone just stops communicating with your watch's HR monitor and thus assumes you're basically dead - not only is it not tracking any of your activity when it's "shut off," but it thinks your entire body is shut off too, hence no resting calories either.

I initially searched the forum to understand if others were seeing the missing health data but I’m also having issues with the AutoSleep app so I at least take comfort that I’m not alone.

I have years of Health data missing. I track my calories and have noticed since updating my resting calories are way down. I won’t be happy if my historic health data is gone for good!

Yikes, that sucks. My previous Health data is still intact, but all my activity since upgrading to iOS 14 is totally messed up (including resting calories). The Health app looks like I've been slacking big time now that it's not recording a significant chunk of steps, exercise minutes, calories, etc. Maybe it's a sign that I'm too obsessive about this stuff but I'm pissed!

14.0.1, 7.0.1 issue persists. Earlier I’ve tried removing and re-pairing the watch with phone and it seemed perhaps better but not fixed. Updated phone and watch last night but no go.

Same here. I unpaired and set up as new yesterday morning, updated to 14.0.1 and 7.0.1 last night, and very weird results. Seems to be significantly better at recording data during the day with much smaller discrepancy in steps/active calories/exercise minutes shown on my Watch vs. in the Health app, but still horrible (if not worse than before unpairing) overnight. My AutoSleep ring looks nearly identical to yours. Had a second call with the Apple Health team last night and have a third scheduled for Tuesday evening. They're totally stumped.

After many phone calls with Apple, things are finally working normally for me again. Backed up everything on iCloud, unpaired the watch, wiped my phone and restored from backup (huge pain), then restored the watch from the backup. Didn't have any issues with AutoSleep last night, the Health app accurately reflects data from my watch/Fitness app, and resting energy is back to what it used to be.

Ridiculous process, but they're aware it's a big issue and this seems to be the only solution they've worked out so far. It's only been <24 hours though so time will tell if it's a lasting fix.

Been working fine until four days ago, however, I’ve now experienced this issue twice in four days in AutoSleep (running 14.0.1 & 7.0.1). Hopefully, the next update will resolve this.

iOS 14.7.1, 7.6.1 on watch
I too use AutoSleep and for the last week i had 2 gaps of several hours during sleep with no heartbeat data. It suddenly stops and then starts up again on its own. No explanation for this everything else is working fine. Watch is a series 3. Any ideas? -phil
