I’m in the process of setting up a home studio and will be either building a PC or buying a used PC/Mac Mini (not really sure which way I want to go get).

However, I wondered if I could get some opinions on the choice between the following:

1) 1 x 27” 4K monitor
Or
2) 2 x Dell U2419h (2 x 1920x1080)

Uses will be music recording/mixing and video editing but nothing too heavy.

Since so many devices record video at 4K now. You'll probably want a 4K monitor.

If you do a lot of multi-tasking. Dual monitors makes doing so much more pleasant. You can also work more efficiently this way.

Personally I use triple Dell 1080P IPS displays. I forget the exact model. They are pretty new though.

Thanks. Yeah, that’s why I’m struggling with the decision haha. I use 2 x Dell P2419h’s at work and 2 x Dell U2519’s at home. I love the dual screen setup but I’m just not sure if dual screen setup is the best option for my use case (of course unless you can afford 2 x 4K screens which unfortunately I cannot).

I bought my screens used. It takes more research. Since you don't want an old monitor. Also it's best that all were manufactured about the same time. Since there can always be minor differences in production runs. Perhaps even production at different factories. Mine were two years old and like new. They cost about half the new monitors and were just as good. Outside of some advancements in higher refresh rates in gaming screens. There aren't really any advancements in LED backlit IPS displays. Outside of the really high end monitors.

At any rate once you use dual or triple displays. It's hard to go back to one.

Where I live, a 27in 4k monitor seem to be more expensive than a 55in 4k TV sets (roughly 400US$).
So if I'm not concerning about response speed (gaming) or in-accurate color (photo editing), I'll just get a 55in 4k TV set and sit a bit away from the screen
