Hi folks.

I have the stranged behavior since at least Mojave.
When browsing files and folders in Finder using List View a SINGLE CLICK on a file sometimes switches it into RENAME mode rather than selecting it.
It gets even stranger, as when I rename it then and hit return, either nothing happens, or it accepts it. If I then leave the folder and go back the name change does not persist. It's driving me nuts... but I have no real explanation for it... any ideas?

Trashing
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.finder.plist
Does NOT solve the problem.

Is there maybe a location where I can look for long forgotten remnants of tools that inject themselves into Finder? I used to use Total Finder way back.

On update:
It seems to only affect my Documents folder. And furthermore only if some of its folders are expanded. If all folders are collapsed... the behavior is as expected.

The Finder standard behaviour is to start editing the name if you click the file name, and the file is selected.
If it starts editing when the file is not selected, it's a bug.
