single earbud with mic & volume control

I'm looking for something similar to my old blackberry single earbud but with a volume control. I've found a couple 3.5mm single buds with mics (but no volume) on Blackberry sites.

I've read on here about people simply cutting the non-mic earbud off the apple headphones. I don't want to do this as I use these for music.

I suppose another option is to find a cheap set of non-apple headphones with mic and volume control. Anyone know a good option to buy and butcher?

Other ideas?
