Single-slot card with boot screens?

I'm having cooling/noise issues with my 5870 and my search for a lower-profile / more efficient solution have hit a wall.

So now I'm looking for Mavericks compatible single-slot cards that are relatively quiet and most importantly it must have boot screens. They don't have to be super powerful, just enough to play 1080P video, no OpenCl or gaming.

I'd prefer not to spend $190 on a GT120.

I'm not afraid to flash it myself, if necessary.

I'd change the 5870's cooler before exploring a replacement. A used EFI gt 120 goes for 80-100 bucks range here in the uk.
