Siri AND voice dictation lose their minds when using AirPod Pro

Question: Anyone else have or have had this problem:

This isn't just a matter of Siri not working, but rather Siri and Voice dictation go completely off the rails when I'm using my AirPod Pros.

I have a case open with Apple and expecting a call in a little while. Already tried several troubleshooting steps per Apple Support, but no joy.

What am I talking about? Well, here are a few real examples: (but names are close but changed slightly to protect the innocent)

Me: "Hey Siri, Call Skip Peterson"
Siri: "I'm sorry, I don't see a number for Lowes in your contacts"

Me: "Hey Siri, Call Dave Ferrell"
Siri: "I'm sorry, I don't see Baby Girl in your contacts"

Me: "Hey Siri, Text Ryan S"
Siri: "What would you like to say"
ME: "I'm almost there, be waiting outside"
Siri Type: "Are you all about women"

Tried to compose some emails, This s=is what I said:
"Hey Bill, it's me, just trying to see if my dictation is working with AirPods."

What the iPhone typed (not making this up):

" Call Jeff Brooker, Siri call and Geri call Aubol call Anna Taylor."

I mean it's so messed up it's almost funny!

When I talk to people on the phone with AirPods, they say I sound clear as a bell.

PS: I have a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds and they work perfectly.

UPDATE: Just got back from Apple store appointment to check my failing AirPods. Failed several tests so walked away with new pair. Now Siri and dictations work perfectly.
