A conversation between Siri and myself earlier…
Me: “Hey Siri, turn off my outlet.”
Siri (from iPhone): “Just to confirm, you want to power off this device?”
Me: I thought it was a little odd she’s asking me to confirm, but said “Yes” anyway.
Me: *waits* … my outlet isn’t turning off…
Me: “Hey Siri”
Siri: no response
Me: “Hey Siri!”
Siri: no response
I go to check my phone, and it’s off! I power it back up and try again, this time watching the screen to see what she hears me say. She hears me say “Hey Siri, turn off my iPad” and responds with the same question as above. I responded “Yes” to see what happens (I do have an iPad). The iPhone turns off again (the iPad stayed on).
Is this new in iOS 16? I know I’ve asked Siri to turn off/restart my iPhone and iPad in the past just for giggles, and she would respond with something like “Sorry, I can’t do that.” Apparently she can now. What else can she do now, that she wasn’t able to do before?
