Anybody else seeing unacceptably long delays between when you press and hold the side button to activate Siri, and when the "ready" sound plays? In iOS 17 and before, it was more or less instant, but I'm finding it takes like 2-3 seconds before I hear the sound on my 15 Pro.

Seems trivial, but it makes the whole experience pretty sluggish. I tend to listen for that sound as a cue that Siri is ready and listening for a query.

Do you have Apple Intelligence enabled? I can start talking instantly on my 16 Pro.

On my iPhone 12 Siri was often extremely slow to start to the point it affected usability, both on iOS 18. The battery health was 84% so I don't know if that had something to do with it.

Yup same on my 16PM with crApple Nontelligence enabled, and instant when it’s disabled. Utter garbage this is.

I do have Apple Intelligence enabled. Didn't realize that was what's doing it! I'm not seeing any real benefit from it so I may well turn it off. Thanks!

I've experienced this using Siri on devices with Apple Intelligence and without.

In previous years, Siri was marginal, at best. Presently, it's unpleasant and unreliable. I rely heavily on ChatGPT and Perplexity, who rarely disappoint.
