So in the UK; we a have a couple of important 3 digit dial codes for assistance -

999 is Emergency Services
101 is Non Emergency services (ie traffic matters, non life threatening)
111 is NHS medical helpline

When asking Siri to call say 101; this command will be ignored and instead start the Emergency services countdown for 999 (definitely an issue when using Siri eyes free...)

I understand Siri understands worldwide dial codes; then translating them to local emergency numbers - however I would have thought something as important as this would need to be regionally aware.

I read a forum post earlier about a Austriallian guy trying to call his voicemail shortcode which instead dials emergency services... just hilarious!

I assume this has been the case since the iPhone 4S with Siri; obviously only just noticed now.

What are everyone’s views on this?

Would you say this is correct behaviour or should Siri be regionally aware; I assume other countries also have directory number or shortcode non emergency numbers?
