Is it likely that in an update, the iPhone 4 will be given Siri?

Probably not. It doesn't make sense for Apple to add technology to an outdated product.

I'm 99.9% sure Apple will not be doing that. Siri is a marketing cue and aids sales of the 4S. Apple wants people buying 4S's, not older 4's just because they were given an update with Siri.

Apple wants you to buy their newest product...

Siri is very well capable on iPhone 4 and iPad 2, but the newest product will most likely get it exclusively.

I remember reading in the first weeks of the 4s release that the makers of siri said the programme would only go onto the 4s because the 4 could not fully run the programme as it should be ! Even tho it was tested out on the 4.

The only function that does not work is the raise to ear which is easily got around by tweaks of if ever fully supported by apple maybe an app.

Their are lots of discussions and threads/blogs about siri not being allowed onto older idevices ,but in my opinion none of the arguments supporting the non implementation of siri onto older idevices are valid !
