Speaking to Siri for texting is working flawlessly on my S3 LTE. Haven't tried mapping etc. yet.
I changed the voice to male for a silly reason—I had called the “her” an ignorant b*tch so often, I needed a fresh “relationship”.

Have you tried Scribble? That works well too (for short msg of course).
