I've had this issue with voice search in my living room for a while now.

I have an Apple TV 4K and every time I try a voice command pretty much it doesn't work right. Last night I was spelling out a password and I'd literally have to wait like 5 seconds while it "worked" and then recognized each letter. Same thing with regular searches, it is a several second delay and often misinterprets what I said.

I also have a Shield TV which is even worse. Most of the time it doesn't recognize anything I say at all.

In my bedroom I have another Apple TV and a Fire TV and both voices searches work fine.

The question is, could there be something in my living room that somehow is causing voice commands to not work right? The box is on a TV stand, on a shelf under the TV. It's right at the front so there is direct line of sight, not that it matters. To the left of it is my Xbox One X and to the right is my center channel speaker.

On my end table next to my chair is a Google Home which has no issue with voice.

So, what in that room could possibly be causing voice commands on other devices to not work right?

Since you are having issues with Apple TV and an nVidia Shield, it's clear that this is not a Siri-related issue. I would consider your home network. How far are the problem devices from your Wifi AP? Have you installed the latest firmware for your router? Try rebooting your Apple TV and try your voice search again. If there is still a delay, move it to your bedroom where your other Apple TV works fine and test voice search there. If it improves, then it should be clear there is a wifi issue.

I would also make sure your Apple TV remote is fully charged. I have found that when the battery is low, it performs quite poorly. I would prefer that it just stops working completely, but it performs poorly and exhibits delays similar to what you are describing.

Everything is hard wired, not using wifi. When I wear a headset for my Xbox One X, the voice commands work fine. Voice works fine on Google Home which is on wifi oddly enough. The remote has a full charge on the Apple TV. It's so weird because it recognizes what I say, just take a long time like it's a super slow CPU and it's taking a long time to figure out what I said.
