I know, that Siri has many shortcomings isn't perhaps the hottest of takes. I use Siri so rarely as to not be bothered by it any more. But I came across this that really made me shake my head.

Apple has been advertising during the MLB post-season the suggestion to use Siri to keep up with the action. The commercial (really just a quick insert in between action, not a full commercial) suggests to ask Siri for the latest scores. Well, my wife and I were in the car recently and I did just that. "What were today's baseball scores?" And Siri provided the correct scores, that part was good, but referred to the ALDS (that is, the American League Division Series) as "alds". As in "olds," but with an a instead of an o. The correct way to say it is to say the letters: "A L D S".

Then later I asked for the Guardians-Yankees score. Siri informed me that the Guardians had won their quarterfinal game against the Yankees. Now, is that literally true? Sure. The World Series is the Finals, the ALCS and NLCS are the Semifinals, and the ALDS and NLDS must the Quarterfinals. Only MLB has never ever ever ever ever ever used that terminology. They are "World Series" and "League Championship Series" and "Division Series."

You might say, and correctly, that this is something that makes no difference. I did get the information I was after. But with this situation, with Apple advertising this on national sports broadcasts, I would hope that Siri would have been insured to have these details covered. Every so often I use Siri, and each time I do I try to have an open mind as to whether it has improved enough to incorporate it into my daily use...and almost universally it disappoints.

We’ll someone must have heard you. I just asked Siri for yesterdays score and it correctly responded A-L-D-S. I do agree Siri is *wildly* inconsistent and LOTS of room for improvement
