I filed this as a bug during the iOS 8 beta and amazingly it's still not fixed.

1. Set a timer via clock app or tell Siri: "Set a timer for 8 minutes" (or any amount of minutes)

2. Lock your iPhone

The counter on the lock screen will always show 0:00

It's been like that since iOS 7.

I submitted a bug report last year and still not sorted.
It only seems to happen when your clock is set to 12 hour mode ( am/pm )
If you set your clock to 24 hour mode the timer will work as normal.
I also believe that Apple don't read the feedback reports or they would have fixed it by now.

I have my iPad and iPhone set to 12 hour and they both do (and have shown in iOS7) the (Siri set) timer countdown on the lock screen.

I too set a timer via the Clock app and it shows it counting down on the lock screen. Phone is on a 12-hour clock.

I use Siri to set timers all the time and the lockscreen counts down for me.

I set timers all the time and have never seen that. I always hit the home button to check on the status of the timer while cooking, and it always shows the time.

The only issue I ever ran into is if I ask Siri to set a timer and lock the screen too quickly, before she fully processes it, and then the timer doesn't get set.

Works fine for me...Set a timer on the lockscreen from control center.

Just tried it via Siri (iPhone 5, iOS 8.1.1, clock in 12-hour mode). Timer shows count down on lock screen just as it should. No issue here.

As I recall it happens in 12-hour mode in some regions around the world. Not in US, for example, but potentially in UK, etc.
