Does Siri read the text of anyone in the Uk's text back to them?

It will read new/unread ones a la "Read me my texts".

Not old ones, UNLESS you've turned on screen-reader in settings>accessibility

I've been having trouble with this. When I ask for my new text to be read, none of it is, just silence, and then I'm asked if I'd like it to be read again or to reply. Each time I try to get it read again, just silence.

Anyone else having this?

I noticed there was a short pause before it starts reading it, so just hold on a second before saying read again or reply.

No this is not it. I have been having this issue too it says its reading the message then there is just silence. It then asks if you want it read again and if it does there is just silence again!

I noticed this earlier and I originally thought it was because I had 'Message Preview' turned off.

However, I think the difference is between iMessage and SMS.

Siri will read SMS but not an iMessage...

Just going to test it now.

OK. Found out what it is.

It's nothing to do with iMessage or SMS.

If your iPhone is locked, Siri will announce who you have a new message from and not read the message.

If your iPhone is unlocked, Siri will read your message as well.
