Siri "You have a message from..." skips names now

I'm not sure if this started in ios 10 or 10.1.1 or what... I'm on iphone 6, ios 10.1.1. Using Siri I say, "Read my messages." And she says, "You have a message from ... " here it sounds like it starts to pronounce the first letter of a name but stops mid-letter, and then it reads the actual message just fine. So I no longer get to hear who the message is from. Anyone else experience this?
