Hi every one I am new here and just wanted to say hi to every one. On my high school campus evry time i try to read a thread it says the administrator has banned my IP address is there a way to find out why this is and be able to log on from there now?

Thank You Very Much :)

Odds are that someone from your school was spamming or otherwise misbehaving, so the school's IP address was banned. You might try sending a Private Message to arn with your situation and school's IP address, but it's unlikely that he'll unblock the school unless the problem occurred some time ago.

Now that I reread your original post:

If you can't even get to the MR site (as opposed to not being able to log in or post), it's possible that the school's admin blocked MR's IP/URL, as opposed to the other way around.

Is it possible that this is the case?

No i get the messgae saying the Administrator has blocked my IP address but it is on the macrumors page.
Thank You

Shouldn't you be studying instead of reading MacRumors at school? :p ;)

Yes, it would be best to PM arn, but I don't know if he'll be able to do much for you...

I really like the macrumors community and it could help me in my studies.
Thanks

carpe diem,

In general, you should send a Private Message to a moderator (or our "moderator mini") for help with problems with your membership or site access. The list of moderators is here. However, since I'm one of them and I already noticed this thread, I have sent you a Private Message to ask for more details. Check your messages by clicking Quick Links -> Private Messages at the top of this page.

I honestly think that this is a problem on the school's end. I have this same issue at my own school. I can get to certain web pages, but when I try to click on a link on that web page to another page that is part of that web page (confused yet), the address is blocked. Sometimes it's just a word that's in the address. It could be the word "forum." Have you tried to access other web pages that have forums? Maybe I just didn't read the thread correctly, but check other forums while you are at school and see if that's it. Otherwise....get back to study hall!

If you get a "vBulletin" message in the same skin/style as the forum, then you've probably been banned from the forum by the forum.

Otherwise, it's probably your network admin blocking Macrumors forums.

It is in the macrumors skin/style but i could suspect the network admins as they are mac haters!!

Thank You

Carpe Diem is a very polite young person. I like to see that.

I agree that his problems connecting to the forums are more than likely caused by school admins.

Carpe Diem: hang out at MacRumors when you're at home. Problem solved.
