If you say, start a good/populer thread, is there a way you can be rewarded.

Like say a thread has lots of views and good replys ect, can a MOD give you a reward of say increaded post count.

Also for people whos threads are Wastelanded a lot (Because they post for the sake of it ect)they lose post counts ect.

This may help stop some of the people who Post Spam or double post ect.

Well, you do get a nice icon beside your post.

And a nice fuzzy feeling inside that you can equate your thread popularity with a show of acknowledgment of your self worth.

I think that that is one of the uses of the reputation feature, which isn't enabled here.

i don't see a point to 'rewards' or 'punishments' either way.

contribute and be an active forward-thinking member of the community is all that is asked.
if there are problems with a post, just report it.

a rewards system and punishment system is too subjective and no way could any sort of guidelines ever be thought by everyone to be abosultely unbiased. it would cause more problems than it is worth i guess is what i'm trying to say. and a 'reputation' system which is a feature of Vbulliten is easily abused.

Punishment often doesn't stop people from doing things -- instead it causes them to adjust to/adapt to the punishment.

In order to institute a reward system there would need to be a serious set of standards, and Mods would need to determine whether those standards are met, etc. And Mods are busy trying to keep a small universe tidy.

Besides -- a thread that takes off is its own reward, right? ;)

Wastelanded posts are deducted from one's post count already.

As for the reward system, I think the biggest indicators are a)the number of replies and b)the little red envelopes. Additionally I just don't see any real need for it. If you create interesting threads and participate in the forums nicely people get to know you anyway.

Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of post count?

I believe a reward system could potentially work but I wouldn't want to see post counts as the prize.
How about spam meat delivered to your door as prize for a popular thread?

It could be personally signed by arn. ;)

A very nice reward in my opinion. :)

Or how about inverting the post counter so every new post is deducted from your score? I'll race y'all back to zero. :p

How about we give this "reward" to just you mad jew. :p ;) :D
