So, I - maybe ambitiously - created a 150gb 128-encrypted DMG file. To store my pictures in, securely (not enough free space on the HD to run filevault - though i think this is a preferable option, anyway).
Issues so far: will mount the DMG through finder (& ask for password), but won't show the mounted VOLUME - it just doesn't appear in the sidebar or on the desktop, and i can only get at it through Disk Util. Interestingly, it WILL mount and show the volume in pathfinder, though!
Anyone have any thoughts? Should i re-make the dmg, or should i concede that a 150gb encrypted DMG is maaybe at the outer limits of what i'd expect finder to deal with, and just use pathfinder, or abandon the idea altogether?
It's just - understandably - made me a little nervous. I don't know about loading my entire picture collection into a file that the OSes core file browser doesn't want to play nice with.
