I had an adjustable monitor and I'm trying to figure out how high the imac screen sits. Can anyone tell me the size of the top bezel? How far beyond the screen does it go? Or could ahyone measure from the bottom of their desk to the top of the imac screen (without bezel)?

Thanks in advance!

17.7 inches

The newer (2012-current) iMacs have no bezels. You mean screen size vs viewable area?

iMacs have ENORMOUS bezels. It's covered by glass, but it's clearly a giant bezel. Just looking for an approximate size. I'm thinking maybe 1.5 inches?

I think you're confusing bezel and screen area. I wouldn't consider the border around the screen to be a bezel per se, considering the glass goes edge to edge, there really isn't a true bezel.

however, a quick google search for the 21.5 iMac screen size/viewable area is 18.7" x 10.5" according to another post where someone claimed they called apple and those are the dimensions they were given.

EDIT: just checked using the Pythagorean theorem, the numbers pretty much work.

those "ENORMOUS bezels" are for space between the screen and the ventilation/speakers....you need that if you dont want a lot of dust to come to your screen

Holy crap this thread is so obnoxious. The dude is just looking for the size of the black area between the edge of the computer and where the actual pixels start. Can someone that owns one just measure that quick?

3.5 years too late
No, NOT "too" late. Question is still as valid today (July, 2020) as 3 years (or "3.5 years") ago

Apple is still producing the bezel known as being noticeably wide or "thick." Seems some have no concept of what a bezel is. So as "Allstarme450" commented, "The dude is just looking for the size of the black area between the edge of the computer and where the actual pixels start. Can someone that owns one just measure that quick?" That should've been a fast, simple answer. Even "Maflynn" pointed (literally!) the bezel out with a graphic symbol.

Without spending time to go to an Apple store again and one-hour driving time (round trip, parking, going into the store) to take 2 minutes to simply measure a bezel, we'd just like to get an idea of what we'll be looking at on 5 iMac Pros everyday, relative to the 27-inch viewable area. So, once more, as "Allstar450" asked, would an iMac/iMac Pro user please measure the bezel and provide the results?

The black, non-illuminated parts of the screen on my 2017 27" iMac measure under 1 inch. Left, right, top, bottom. Each 0.9 inches.

The 5K iMac, minus its stand is 17.5"x25.6".
The "chin" is 2 1/4 inches tall.
That makes the display portion 15.25" tall x 25.6" wide (29.8 diagonally)
The illuminated screen portion of the display part is roughly 13.45 x 23.8 (27" diagonal)

Thank you, on behalf of our customers, for not considering this valid question "too late"! Still very useful.
