Sizing Columns in Mail App

Hello everyone,

This question is about Mail in OSX 10.8.2 (latest version).
Mail is set to use Classic Layout.

When in full screen, the column for attachments keeps resizing to be wider than it needs to be. I constantly resize it to show only the paperclip, but if I change apps or even mailboxes, then the column is back to be wider than needed.

I have looked for a setting about auto-resizing, so I can turn it off, but no luck.

Any ideas on how to prevent this behavior?

P.S. For those wondering why this even matters, just 3 letters ... OCD :)
