I originally put a white carbon fiber type skin from Bodyguardz on the back of my iPad Air. I was pretty happy with the ease of installation and the way it looked and felt. But then....
I saw and really liked the white faux leather skin from Sticker Boy. So I ordered that as well. I received it today and overall it felt of good quality but a little thicker and heavier than the Bodyguardz. So I peeled off the Bodyguardz with no damage or residue and then thoroughly cleaned the back of the iPad as if I was doing a screen protector install. I was able to position and line up the cutouts easily with the Sticker Boy skin. Another easy install, right? Wrong. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the edges to stick. I pressed and pressed and then got the hair dryer out and heated up the edges as shown in their videos. Once the edges were heated they would lay down and adhere nicely. As soon as they cooled, they would lift up again. I tried this a few times and then gave up and pulled off the skin. There was just no keeping the edges down. So frustrating cause I was very careful to have the iPad super clean and also didn't touch the sticky part of the skin with my fingers but used tape to align it.
Thankfully, I had a spare Bodyguardz skin and was able to get that new one back on in less than 5 minutes. So if anyone is thinking about a skin for the back, I would definitely recommend the Bodyguardz over the Sticker Boy.
